About Coniqua
I'm Coniqua Johnson-Reed, Founder and Principal Consultant of Fearless Spaces Consulting. For over 15 years, I have partnered with mission driven and social impact organizations, especially those led by or serving Black communities, through transition, growth, and transformation.
My path to founding Fearless Spaces did not start in a boardroom. It started when I was a teenager who learned early that silence protects no one. I found my voice organizing around comprehensive sex education, LGBTQ+ rights, and the school to prison pipeline, work that taught me how to stand in a room and speak hard truths before I had any formal training to do it. That voice carried me through years in government and grassroots movement spaces, advocating alongside communities fighting for dignity and justice. Each fight sharpened the same skill, facilitating hard conversations and helping people move through change with clarity.
I get called in when teams are stuck, leaders are burned out, or an organization wants to close the gap between its values and its everyday work. My expertise spans facilitated dialogue, reimagining impact through strategic planning, organizational culture assessment, and equity centered program design. I cultivate the conditions for hard, meaningful conversations, and turn those moments into culture change that lasts.
I hold a Master's in Nonprofit Management from The New School and a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy and Public Affairs from Sage College of Albany.
Fearless Spaces envisions workplaces boldly reimagined as safe, just spaces for all, where mission driven work does not come at the cost of the people doing it.
When I am not in the work, I'm NYC based, living in the Bronx with my husband, deep into a wellness routine, and probably thinking about my next Black romance novel to read.
